The Best of the Best 2003: Undiscovered Bests - Spa Palazzo

  • Maryann Hammers

You will find the new Spa Palazzo at the Boca Raton Resort & Club on Florida’s Gold Coast. But don’t be surprised if, during a visit, you begin craving paella, tapas, and sangria. Fashioned after Spain’s legendary Alhambra palace, the opulent spa is an architectural wonder, with exposed cedar-beam ceilings, two-story arched cathedral windows, a two-story fireplace, bold ceramic work designed by Spanish craftsmen, intricate stonework, mahogany and cypress woodwork, and a handpainted rotunda. Outside the main edifice, you can swim in the spa pool, which is equipped with an underwater sound system, or wander among the 10,000 square feet of gardens, lush courtyards, waterfall whirlpools, and sunning terraces.

The spa’s signature water ritual is presented in a terme (wet room) that features aromatic mineral baths, Swiss and waterfall showers, and aroma-infused steam, sauna, and inhalation rooms. You will emerge feeling relaxed, rested, and restored. If Ponce de León were still around, his search may have ended here.
