Cliffside Camp at the Resort at Paws Up

<< Back to Robb Report, August 2013

From its forested perch above the Blackfoot River, the new Cliffside Camp at the Resort at Paws Up masters the delicate balance between wilderness and refinement.

The six-tent camp opened in June along the western edge of Paws Up, a 37,000-acre cattle ranch turned resort located 45 minutes by car from Missoula, Mont. The spacious one- and two-bedroom tents, which range from 605 square feet to 975 square feet, feature custom bedding, en suite bathrooms with heated floors, and private decks overlooking the roaring Blackfoot. Butlers are available day and night—offering expertise in everything from local flora and fauna to s’more-making techniques—while a private chef helms the camp’s restaurant and lounge, which is outfitted with oversize leather chairs and warm flannel blankets.

Cozy as Cliffside may be, guests spend most of their days exploring Paws Up’s sprawling prairie land and pine forests. Led by expert guides, activities include cattle driving, river rafting, fly-fishing, hot-air ballooning, and mountain rappelling. Visitors in search of a more leisurely experience may choose a hike along the resort’s 100 miles of trails, followed by a trip to Spa Town, where breezy white tents serve as the setting for Starlight Starbright moonlight massages and Sacagawea’s Dream aromatherapy treatments.
