Cape Town’s historic Ellerman House (ellermanhouse.co.za) looks better than ever after an estate-wide renovation. Reopened in May, the Edwardian manse perched above Bantry Bay matches its idyllic environs with 11 sleek guest rooms outfitted with textured wallpapers, brass and gold fixtures, and local artwork. The Relais & Châteaux property’s public areas also received updates, from a sea-inspired style in the spa to a bright new color palette in the library. Unaltered, however, are the estate’s two villas, its wine gallery (which debuted in 2013 with a collection of 7,500 South African wines), and its views over the Atlantic coastline.
