FrontRunners: Some Like it Haute

<< Back to Robb Report, December 2006

Those fond of the beach lifestyle now can own a part-time residence at the 118-year-old Hotel del Coronado (www.hoteldelrealty.com) on San Diego’s Coronado Island. The resort, which provided the setting for the 1959 movie Some Like It Hot, recently began offering limited-use, oceanfront condominiums with starting prices of $2.4 million. Owners may use the two- and three-bedroom cottages for as many as 90 days per year, with up to 25 days of occupancy during any 50-day period. The hotel will rent the cottages the rest of the time, sharing the revenue evenly with the owners. The first units should be available by December, the last ones by July of next year. . . .
