FrontRunners: Town And Country

XV Beacon (877.XVBEACON) and the White Barn Inn (207. 967.2321) are offering the best of both worlds—city and country—for weekend travelers to New England. The tony boutique hotel in the heart of Boston and the charming Relais & Châteaux property in the quaint yet cultured seaside community of Kennebunkport, Maine, have created a $1,275 three-night package called Town and Country that lets you divide your time between the two properties.

XV Beacon blends Yankee sophistication with contemporary panache in a town home setting. The hotel’s Federalist restaurant, with its dark wood and high ceilings, feels like a private club. The contemporary American menu, though, is far from stodgy, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and a top-notch wine list. Up the coast in Kennebunkport, the White Barn Inn’s AAA five-diamond restaurant is located in two restored barns dating from the 1860s. Its delightful rustic atmosphere is contrasted with a refined continental prix fixe menu that showcases the exceptional local seafood.

“We wanted to offer something that would allow guests to experience two very different aspects of luxury without having to fly,” says William Sander, general manager of XV Beacon. In fact, the hotels can provide limousine service between the destinations, so visitors don’t even have to drive.
