Gurney’s Montauk Resort and Seawater Spa Debuts a New Look

The urge to flee New York City’s scorching summer heat is greater than ever this year, thanks to the redesign of a Hamptons icon. Gurney’s Montauk Resort and Seawater Spa, which has claimed a quintessential stretch of sand on the eastern edge of Long Island since 1926, unveiled the first of an expansive multiphase renovation in May. The 10-acre resort debuted a new wing with 38 guest rooms featuring bespoke furnishings, wire-brushed hardwood floors, and private ocean-view verandas surrounded by juniper trees. Four new dining venues have also opened, including the Seawater Grill (helmed by the executive chef Seth Levine of Gramercy’s the Stand) and the Ocean Café with a raw and sushi bar.

Guests can unwind next to the resort’s new sand-filtered saltwater pool or on its 1,000-foot private beach, where the redesigned Beach Club features cabanas and a new restaurant and bar. Additional upgrades are also forthcoming, including renovations to the resort’s 40-treatment-room spa and fitness center, two of its beach cottages, and its remaining suites and guest rooms.
