Private Preview 2014: Royal Residences
In Baccarat’s 250 years of operation, the French glassworks has outfitted many of the world’s finest residences, producing stemware, chandeliers, and other items for clients who have included King Louis XVIII and Czar Nicholas II. This year, the brand will unveil a few elite residences of its own, with the opening of its first-ever hotel and condominium development.
Designed by the New York–based architecture firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the new Baccarat Hotel and Residences will be set within a sparkling, multifaceted-glass tower near Carnegie Hall, Central Park, and the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan. The residences will comprise 60 one- to five-bedroom condominiums (from $3.5 million to $60 million) that include a five-bedroom penthouse duplex with a double-height loggia and unobstructed city views. All of the condos, not surprisingly, will feature Baccarat lighting fixtures.
Residents at the Baccarat will have access to the adjoining 114-room hotel’s facilities, which will include a spa, an indoor pool, and 24-hour concierge service. Baccarat plans to open additional hotels—Morocco and the United Arab Emirates are next—in the coming years.
