A new Anantara opened in March in Xishuangbanna, China, tucked away in the lush forests of the Yunnan Province, with 80 rooms and 23 pool villas. The resort seeks to meld Chinese, Thai, and Burmese, cultures in its design, culinary offerings, and spa. In addition to a pool, fitness center, and spa, activities include mountain hiking, bird and wildlife spotting, and boat trips along the Luosuo River. Rooms start at $300 a night.
