Sneak Peek: Botanique Hotel & Spa

Botanique Hotel & Spa opened this month in the Campos do Jordão region, about two hours north of São Paulo, Brazil. It has six suites and 11 stand-alone villas completely surrounded by 700 acres of lush forests and botanical gardens. The architecture of Botanique reflects and complements its serene surroundings, with three-story glass walls that offer stunning views, and using locally sourced chocolate slate and stone in the hotel’s construction.

The property’s Mina restaurant features an expansive 180-degree view of the mountains and valley. Its 10,000-square-foot spa has eight treatment rooms and specializes in a host of Afro-Brazilian and Indian treatments. Outdoor activities include hiking, mountain biking, tennis, horseback riding, and bird-watching. Rooms start at about $1,200 a night. (+55.12.3797.6877, www.botanique.com.br)
