Sneak Peek: Chedi Sakala, Bali, Indonesia
The Chedi Sakala, Bali, raises the bar for luxury along the white-sand beaches of Bali’s Tanjung Benoa neighborhood.
Why Go: Tanjung Benoa is best known for its calm seas and plethora of marine activities, including riding personal watercraft, fly-fishing, snorkeling, and parasailing. The resort area, located just north of the better-known Nusa Dua gated development, was built up in the 1980s with a number of family-friendly, all-inclusive resorts. Conrad Bali opened in 2004 offering a higher-end experience, and the Chedi Sakala aims to bring even more sophistication to town.
What to Expect: Characteristic of its neighbors, the 6-acre Chedi Sakala is a large, fairly dense resort. One of two main swimming pools sits beachfront, while the bulk of the accommodations are set back from the coast. Of the 261 rooms, the 14 townhouse-style two-bedroom pool villas are closest to the beach and offer the most privacy, having fewer shared walls. Design-driven, Chinese-influenced interiors are characteristic of GHM-managed hotels, including the Chedi Sakala’s sibling resorts the Legian Bali and the Nam Hai in Vietnam. Guests can opt in to club-level amenities from any accommodation. Dining outlets include an all-day restaurant and a fine French restaurant with Indian Ocean views.
How to Get There: The resort is 30 minutes southeast by car from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Visa-on-Arrival Fast Track service can be arranged through the Chedi Sakala in advance to speed up time through customs. (+62.361.775.216, www.ghmhotels.com)
