Colorado’s capital city presents the Crawford Hotel within the renewed Denver Union Station.

Why Go: The Denver Union Station, which first opened in 1881, has reopened to great fanfare. Working since the late 1980s to revitalize its lower downtown, or LoDo, district, the Mile-High City approved the $500 million station project more than a decade ago. In July, the project celebrated its grand opening with new transportation routes, restaurants, residences, shopping, and the 112-room Crawford Hotel (rates from $289).

What to Expect: The hotel occupies the upper levels of the terminal building’s north and south wings, above first-level shops and restaurants. Guests choose from three room categories: Pullman, Classic, and Loft. Pullman rooms look like more spacious versions of Pullman sleeping cars, with mahogany paneling and art deco design elements. Classic rooms are inspired by the station’s Victorian-era beginnings. Exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, and Carrara-marble bathrooms set the Loft rooms apart, including the three one-bedroom LoDo Suites. The hotel’s other suite, named Crawford, is a larger version of a Classic room. Guests receive a 24-hour key to use the fitness center in the adjacent Oxford Club, Spa, and Salon. Other perks include in-room smart TVs with Netflix and Hulu, as well as complimentary Tesla car service within a two-mile radius.

How to Get There: Located within the city’s transportation hub, the hotel could not be more convenient to Denver’s expanding light-rail, train, and bus routes. The drive to the airport is 25 miles. (800.228.5838, www.thecrawfordhotel.com)
