Sneak Peek: Park Hyatt, Vienna, Austria

  • Sneak Peek: Park Hyatt, Vienna, Austria

Vienna’s new Park Hyatt arrives among the biggest names in fashion and jewelry.

Why Go: In the heart of old Vienna, the new Goldenes Quartier makes room for luxury retailers and the new Park Hyatt. Guests of the 143 rooms (from about $521, and among the largest in the city) stay on Am Hof square, the largest square in Vienna’s inner city. An expanded pedestrian-only zone connects Am Hof with the existing luxury-shopping street Kohlmarkt, where the composers Joseph Haydn and Frédéric Chopin once lived. Today the big names on the white baroque facades read Louis Vuitton, Brioni, Cavalli, Valentino, and the like.

What to Expect: The hotel’s interiors will not surprise anyone who has stayed with Park Hyatt before. The decor comes in all shades of gold and brown, surfaces and furnishings are sleek and minimalistic, and the artwork is contemporary. The presidential suite stands apart, furnished with restored historic pieces. The 100-year-old building’s former life as the headquarters of a financial institution is referenced by the all-day international restaurant, the Bank. Guests are encouraged to make themselves at home in the hotel’s whisky and cigar lounge, comfortably called the Living Room.

How to Get There: A 16-minute train from the Vienna airport to Wien Mitte station plus a 10-minute cab ride to the hotel. (+43.1.22740.1153, www.vienna.park.hyatt.com)
