Things are looking up at the Ritz-Carlton, Naples, following a face-lift this summer of the grande dame on Florida’s Vanderbilt Beach.
Why Go: Firmly established as the social center of Naples, Fla., the 450-room hotel has stood its ground on Vanderbilt Beach since 1985. The property embarked on its largest renovation ever, closing for two months and reemerging on October 1 with new rooms, suites, and restaurants, and back-of-house improvements throughout.
What to Expect: The Ritz-Carlton is a favorite in Naples for its beachfront location, two pools, spa, and Club Level accommodations. The new furniture and decor, chosen to make the stately high-rise feel more like a beach house, have lightened up the hotel’s feel overall. There are three new dining outlets to try: a sushi and cocktail bar, a grill specializing in surf and turf, and an Italian restaurant.
How to Get There: The closest airport is Southwest Florida International, just 25 minutes by car. You can drive in from Miami or Fort Lauderdale in about two hours. (239.598.3300, www.ritzcarlton.com)
