The Sanderling Resort in Duck, N.C., has reopened after an extensive renovation. The overhaul of the resort (located oceanfront on the state’s picturesque Outer Banks) includes two new pools, poolside guestrooms, an outdoor dining deck, and the Beach House bar. The property is also home to the new Kimball’s Kitchen, which offers one of the most comprehensive wine lists in the region, along with steaks and seafood. Activities include tennis, kayaking, surfing, paddleboarding, skim-boarding, and bicycling (rentals are available). Rooms start at $299 a night. (877.650.4812, www.sanderling-resort.com)
