Sneak Peek: The Waikiki Edition, Honolulu

  • Kristin Jones

The Waikiki Edition, which opens October 15 in Honolulu, is hotelier Ian Schrager’s first venture with Marriott International. Artist and surfer Herbie Fletcher designed the hotel’s reception decor, a wall-to-wall surfboard installation composed of 100 broken surfboards once used by some of the world’s most renowned pipeline surfers. Main attraction: acclaimed Japanese chef Masaharu Morimoto’s restaurant, Morimoto Waikiki, in addition to a private inland beach, two expansive pools, an outdoor movie theater, and lush tropical gardens. The hotel has 353 rooms, which start at $375 and go up to $9,995. (800.466.9695, www.editionhotels.com)
