A Tuscan Visit with a Bocelli Performance

Jackie Caradonio

From the olive groves and rolling vineyards that surround its stone walls to the Rubelli silks and Carrara marble that fill its rooms, Hotel Castello di Casole is perhaps Tuscany’s most authentic escape. So overwhelming is its Italian-ness that if you close your eyes and listen closely, you can almost hear the sounds of La bohème drifting through the 10th-century castle’s beautifully worn archways. For just a few nights in July, however, those magical melodies will become an inextricable part of the Casole experience, thanks to a limited-time package that grants guests unrivaled access to one of Italy’s most celebrated tenors: Andrea Bocelli.

The package (priced from $1,240 per night, based on a five-night suite stay) is timed to coincide with Bocelli’s July 13 performance at the Teatro del Silenzio amphitheater, located in the famed singer’s hometown of Lajatico. Guests will enjoy VIP seats at the concert and round-trip transfers to and from the theater. Following an evening in which Bocelli may regale his fans with the operatic achievements of his Aria album or reprise his role as Rodolfo in La bohème, guests can indulge in a number of hotel perks, from a sommelier-led winery tour and tasting to a pizza-making class and dinner. The most fitting encore, however, will likely take place on Casole’s terrace, where guests can absorb the majestic silence of sunset with an aperitif in hand.
