There are three models in the 2008 Rolls-Royce model line. The Phantom sedan was the first of this new generation of Rolls-Royce motorcars built under the stewardship of BMW. Introduced at the North American International Auto Show in January of 2003, the Phantom quickly established itself as the undisputed leader in the ultra-luxury sedan segment.
In 2006 the Phantom EWB, or extended wheelbase, was added to the range. Ten inches longer in both wheelbase and overall length, the EWB offers even more room in the already spacious and comfortable rear cabin. Envisioned initially for Asia and the Middle East where cars of this type are chauffeur driven, the EWB has been growing success in the US where the majority of cars are owner driven.
This year, Rolls-Royce has added a less formal and more emotional model, the Phantom Drophead Coupé. Utilizing the same strong yet light aluminum space frame technology, the Drophead is a delight to the senses. Its nautically inspired design is pleasing to the eye. Your nose will almost immediately pick up the delightful aroma of fine leather as you enter through the unique coach doors. Your ears will be free to listen to the sounds of the great out doors thanks to the almost total absence of any mechanical sounds. And, with its brushed stainless steel hood and teak deck, the Drophead virtually cries out to be touched. It is truly a unique automobile, even for a Rolls-Royce...
Under the skin all three Phantom models share an impressive state-of-the-art mechancial package. Each is based on an incredibly strong and light aluminum space frame. All are powered by a silent V-12 engine of 6.75 liters displacement that delivers 453 horsepower and an impressive 531 pound feet of torque. Each is capable of wafting from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5.7 seconds and can deliver an EPA fuel economy of 12 MPG city and 18 MPG highway.
As you would expect, all Rolls-Royce models come with an extensive list of standard equipment. Every piece of this represents the best money can buy in its particular field. In the world of Rolls-Royce there are options. Options here are items which some clients may desire and others may not. They are not quality upgrades as is often the case with other makers. Typical Rolls-Royce options include, front and rear video cameras, rear seat DVD player, or a cigar humidor.
An area where Rolls-Royce has always distinguished itself is bespoke. Bespoke means made to order. While not a common practice in today's automotive world, Rolls-Royce has championed bespoke for over a century. Want your new Phantom painted to match your wife's nail polish, or your 1954 Buick Skylark, or your 1964 Silver Cloud? We can match some 45,000 different colors.
While paint is the most common bespoke option, it is also the easiest. Perhaps you would like a mini-wine cellar in the trunk, a cooled towel dispenser in the rear seat, or a safe for your valuables? The company prides itself in being able to meet our customer's special requests.
Rolls-Royce was founded in 1904 and for more than 100 years the company has proudly pursued the objectives of its founders, "to build the best cars in the world". Mere words and pictures do not do these fine cars justice. To truly understand what makes a Rolls-Royce so special you really must experience one for yourself. Isn't it time for you to discover what some of the world's most recognized people have learned? Please contact us and we will be pleased to tell you more about Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
