The Best of the Best 2003: Business Jets – Cessna Citation X

<< Back to Robb Report, Best of the Best

For pure performance in a midsize jet, the Cessna Citation X stands alone. The Citation X boasts an average cruising speed of Mach 0.92, or approximately 600 mph, making it the fastest business jet available; the 12-passenger aircraft can race from Los Angeles to New York in under four hours. Rolls-Royce AE3007 C1 engines lift the $19 million jet to 43,000 feet in 30 minutes. It cruises at 51,000 feet to optimize fuel efficiency and achieve a range of 3,900 miles, which is enough to travel from New York to London—in less than six hours.

The 24-foot-long cabin can be configured to include a galley, a dressing area, and an entertainment center. In the VIP configuration, six passengers can travel in the comfort of leather chairs. More than 200 Citation Xs are currently in service, including 60 in the NetJets fleet, making it the fractional provider’s busiest aircraft.
