The Red Bull Air Races are back for an eighth season, with new stops this year in Sochi, Russia, and Chiba, Japan—and with luxurious accommodations from which to view the action. For the races, world-class aerobatic pilots fly in fast, loud, challenging competitions, racing on a tight low-level course marked by inflated pylons. New rules instituted last year require all the pilots to fly similar single-engine propeller-driven airplanes, keeping the competitive emphasis on skill and speed. The season launches February 13 in Abu Dhabi and concludes in the United States, with a stop in Fort Worth, Texas, on September 26 and 27 and the finale in Las Vegas on October 17 and 18. Other stops include Budapest, Hungary; Ascot, England; and Spielberg, Austria.
All racing venues offer exclusive Sky Lounge air-conditioned seating areas with the best views of the action, fine food and drinks, reserved parking, a video wall with full race coverage, concierge service, and other hospitality benefits and amenities. Tickets are available now online for the Abu Dhabi opening race. At that venue, visitors will enjoy a purpose-built race village adjoining the Corniche Breakwater, a picturesque 5-mile-long beachfront urban park that provides views of the races. The races will take place above the shimmering blue waters of the Arabian Gulf. Sky Lounge tickets for the full weekend are priced at about $1,300 each. (www.redbullairrace.com)
