Sierra Super Centurion Updates a Classic

Fresh avionics can do a lot to revitalize an older but still airworthy airplane, and a new upgrade from Sierra Industries promises to get aging Cessna 210s back in the game. Thousands of the single-engine six seaters, which were first sold in the 1960s, are still flying, but their last-century instrument panels are losing their appeal. Sierra’s mod shop replaces mechanical dials with modern computer screens to enhance safety and ease pilot workload. The company can also add aerodynamic enhancements to improve take-off and landing performance and upgrade the paint and interior while they’re at it. The overhaul takes from four to six weeks, but owners don’t have to be grounded—Sierra provides a loaner airplane. Prices start at about $25,000. (888.8FLYERS, www.sijet.com)
