The phrase “less is more” might not serve well as a sales pitch to the typical supercar shopper, but it is the principle behind the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera (www.lamborghini.com). This baby bull’s last name means “superlight” in Italian, and by weighing in at less than 3,000 pounds (2,954 to be exact), the Superleggera certainly lives up to its name. Lamborghini keeps the car so svelte by using polycarbonate in place of glass for the engine cover and rear windows and by equipping it with carbon-fiber-composite seats, door panels, and side mirrors. Although Lamborghini emphasized weight reduction when it engineered the $237,600 Superleggera, it still squeezed an additional 10 hp out of the car’s 5.2-liter V-10 engine.
