The Ferrari 488 GTB Promises to Be the Quickest Production Ferrari

The 458’s replacement is a street-legal supercar with racecar credentials…

Ferrari stepped up its game at the recent Geneva International Motor Show, debuting the record-breaking new Ferrari 488 GTB. The replacement for the Ferrari 458 Italia, the car promises thrilling performance—even for amateur drivers.

The 488 GTB’s styling is aggressive but still features Ferrari’s classic, sleek lines. Aerodynamic enhancements include a double front spoiler, two side channels, large rear air vents, and a blown spoiler on the tail. Inside, the Formula 1–inspired cabin combines sportiness with comfort, with lighter seats, a new infotainment system, and a more compact dashboard with air vents designed to look like jet intakes.

The real showstopper, however, is the car’s track-worthy performance. Its new turbo V-8 is Ferrari’s highest-performance engine to date, promising zero turbo lag and a note the company characterizes as unique and seductive. The 488 GTB is the company’s most responsive production model ever, with a zero-to-62-mph time of less than 3 seconds. Accompanying the engine are new Brembo brakes, which decrease stopping distances by 9 percent and allow optimum cooling during intense driving.

The 488 GTB will be available with Ferrari’s seven-year maintenance program and a number of personalization options, such as interior and exterior trim, a telemetry system, and a high-end audio system. The company has not yet announced pricing. (ferrari.com)
