Liter bikes might get all the glory from speed freaks and sportbike fanatics who have their fancies tickled by machines that achieve the 1000 cc displacement mark, but enthusiasts who do not feel the inexplicable need to push 100 mph in first gear prefer middleweights. This often-overlooked segment offers lightweight construction and instant maneuverability while still maintaining a fierce power-to-weight ratio.
An upcoming addition to this category, the MV Agusta F3 (www.mvagustausa.com), does not skimp on premium features. It boasts a high-revving 675 cc 3-cylinder engine with a counter-rotating crankshaft, a fully adjustable Marzocchi and Sachs suspension, and radially mounted Brembo brakes. The F3 also is attractive enough to have earned Most Beautiful Bike honors at the EICMA show this past November in Milan, Italy, where MV Agusta debuted the bike.
The F3 is scheduled to go into production in September. At press time, MV Agusta had yet to announce a price for its new middleweight contender.
