After unveiling the Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce earlier this spring at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Lamborghini introduced a roadster version in August at Pebble Beach. Like the coupe, the roadster is faster and more powerful than the Aventador LP 700-4.

To create the Superveloce form, Lamborghini redesigned the Aventador body, adding new front wings, a new front splitter, a larger rear diffuser, and a larger, manually adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing. These components improve the car’s overall aerodynamic efficiency by 150 percent. They also produce 170 percent greater downforce, which combined with the four-wheel drive delivers exceptional traction.

If history is any indication, the Superveloce Rodster could mark the end of the Aventador model line, which went into production in 2011. When Lamborghini unveiled each of its previous three Superveloce variants—for the Miura in 1971, the Diablo in 1996, and the Murciélago in 2009—it retired those models shortly thereafter. Lamborghini plans to build only 400 examples of the Roadster.
