Private Preview 2005: Power for the Course

<< Back to Robb Report, Private Preview

The only way the Ducatisti could enjoy a more track-ready motorcycle would be if the Italian manufacturer’s American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Superbike series machines appeared in showrooms. The $30,000 Ducati 999R, which is based on the motorcycle that racer Eric Bostrom pilots on the circuit, will be available for delivery later this year. The 398-pound bike will be powered by a 999 cc Testastretta engine that delivers 150 hp, 11 more horses than its predecessor. The bike will also feature a new front fairing that will improve the motorcycle’s aerodynamics and offer better protection at high speeds, which is where, given the 999R’s capabilities, riders will frequently find themselves.
