The $13 Million Arcadia Yachts Tortoise Comes Out of Its Shell in Cannes

The 115-foot yacht’s design is both environmentally conscious and fashion forward…

While there is nothing slow about the 115-foot Arcadia Yachts Tortoise, it has been designed to fit into nature almost as well as its reptilian namesake. With the goal of minimizing the yacht’s carbon footprint, the Italian shipyard has equipped its superstructure with double-glazed solar panels to power utilities and recharge batteries, thus limiting the use of onboard generators. In complement, the Tortoise’s fiberglass, semi-displacement hull helps maximize hydrodynamic efficiency, reducing emissions due to lower engine demand. Powered by two 1,200 hp, MAN V-8 engines, the yacht is capable of a cruising speed of up to 16 knots and a max speed of 18 knots. In addition, a hybrid-propulsion option makes possible a speed of 8 knots with zero emissions and noise pollution. Environmental impact is further lightened by an onboard waste-water treatment system.

The environmentally conscious cruiser remains exceedingly comfortable, however, as the interior is infused with myriad indulgences. Italian-made furnishings from Poltrona Frau grace all the lavish living spaces in dark wood and white fabrics for a modern Mediterranean aesthetic. On the main deck, a spacious saloon flanked by floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows segues aft into a covered outdoor lounge with its own bar. Ubiquitous glass also encompasses the upper deck’s navigation station that is backed by an extensive open-air social area. The belowdecks is home to five cabins—with private verandas—accommodating up to 12 guests, as well as a tender garage located aft.

Currently running sea trials and available for viewing at the Cannes Yachting Festival until September 13, Tortoise is priced at $13 million. (arcadiayachts.it)
