FrontRunners: Quiet Cruiser

<< Back to Robb Report, Luxury Preview 2014

The Italian yachting classification and certification agency Registro Italiano Navale recently awarded the Admiral Tecnomar Impero 40 (www.admiraltecnomar.com) its best noise and vibration ratings ever. When the vessel is traveling at a cruising speed of 16 knots, its advanced insulation keeps the noise level in the master cabin to just 49 dB, which is quieter than a normal conversation. Vibrations are about one-tenth of the average level for boats traveling at that speed. The veteran naval architect Luca Dini penned the aggressive-looking design of the $20.3 million all-aluminum, semi-displacement 131-footer. Admiral Tecnomar, an Italian shipyard, delivered the first example of the Impero 40, christened Cacos V, in July.

The interior of Cacos V features black leather floors and macassar furniture throughout. The yacht sleeps 11 guests in five cabins, each of which has a different design. The full-beam master suite has a minimalist design, an oversize bed, and two bathrooms separated by an enormous shower.
