After the most recent launch of a Hodgdon Custom Tender (www.hodgdonyachts.com), the secret is out about Maine’s 200-year-old boatbuilder. It turns out this is not Hodgdon Yachts’ first megayacht tender; it is its third. The first two were built for the owner (reportedly Steven Spielberg) of the Oceanco-built, 282-foot Seven Seas. The new tender, like the first two, sports a 34.5-foot-long carbon-composite hull and structure by naval architect Michael Peters. The line is priced from $1.5 million and can be customized with a roof that lifts hydraulically, retractable windows, and varnished mahogany exterior trim. Hodgdon’s latest build reaches 32 knots under power of a lone 370 hp Volvo engine.
