Heesen’s 124-foot Project Nina yacht concept is a case study in maritime minimalism both inside and out. The Netherlands boatbuilder’s latest dream includes an aluminum semi-displacement hull and exterior and interior styling by Hot Lab, Milan’s latest design sensation. Light woods and an aquatic color palette preside over the yacht’s generous interiors, which have been modeled with a modern oriental approach defined by clean lines and sumptuous simplicity.
Project Nina sleeps as many as 10 people in five cabins. The owner’s stateroom, located on the main deck toward the bow, stretches for all of the nearly 26-foot beam. The kingly quarters comprise a study, a bedroom suite, and a spacious, spa-styled bathroom with tub and glass shower. The other guests will reside in four refined en suite cabins on the lower deck.
For the exterior, the upper deck departs from Heesen’s previous approaches by lengthening the aft area to accommodate a 19-foot tender and water toys, as opposed to designs like Heesen Galactica Star that reserve the aft portion of the yacht for leisure. Such pursuits aboard Project Nina are pushed forward toward the bow, where passengers can recline in comfort on the oversize daybed that serves as a centerpiece.
Alfresco amenities above on the sundeck include a grilling area and bar space sheltered under a hard-top Bimini. For more formal affairs, the main deck’s saloon will become an elegant epicenter for socializing that carries over into the dedicated dining room. After a day of play on the water (accessed by dual staircases aft), guests can avail themselves of the lower deck’s lazaret equipped with head and shower. The lazaret can also be customized as a beach club if so desired.
The plans for propulsion call for two MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines that will give the yacht a top speed of 23 knots while Humphree active interceptors optimize trim and stabilization to provide a smooth ride.
