The Revolver 44GT Offers High-Performance Boating with High Style

An Italian design gives the new day cruiser good looks to match its speed…

With its new Revolver 44GT, Italy’s Revolver Boats has elevated the offshore powerboat far beyond the levels of its counterparts in the United States. Where some designs from the likes of Cigarette Racing Team and Outerlimits incorporate wind-stricken cockpits, elongated foredecks, and flashy paint schemes, the 44GT features an exterior (penned by the Italian designer Alberto Mancini) with a helm enclosed by a sleek carbon-fiber canopy located midship to allow for an ample aft padded lounge and a comparatively tasteful white hull with black and gray highlights.

The boat’s interior—also by Mancini, and inspired, like the exterior, by a previous Revolver model designed by the U.S. maritime designer extraordinaire Michael Peters—is equally sophisticated. It contrasts an abundance of soft white Italian leather with carbon-fiber accents and includes such niceties as air-conditioning, an electronically retractable glass roof, a small galley, a head with a rain shower, a minibar, and a belowdecks dining area that easily converts to a double bed.

Of course, the 44GT is not lacking in performance: Its twin diesel Cummins 550 hp engines, Arenson surface drives, lightweight vacuum-molded deep-V hull, and aerodynamic lines enable a top speed beyond 60 knots. But, as its name implies, the 44GT is so stylish that it is perhaps better suited for grand touring than for a grand prix. The Revolver 44GT starts at approximately $1 million.
