This Yacht Concept Could Be the Future of Sailing Superyachts

When not under wind power, the 180-foot yacht employs a diesel-electric propulsion system…

Designed by Timur Bozca, the Cauta yacht concept is a futuristic high-performance cruiser. Visually inspired by the albatross, the diesel-electric yacht is sleek, stylish, and speedy. Two self-standing and rotating masts support 10 sails each; both masts are fused into the yacht’s silver carbon-fiber hull.

Accommodating up to 10 guests and eight crewmembers, the 180-foot yacht houses a dining area, a cockpit, a lounge, and sleeping quarters. Slate gray walls and OLED technology lend the interiors a space-ship-like aesthetic. The spacious owner’s stateroom includes a living area and a bathroom with a rain shower system. See-through floor panels allow guests to glimpse the ocean below. The aft cockpit can even be transformed into a wading pool so children can have a place to play in case of inclement weather. Bozca won Boat International Media and Oceanco’s Young Designer of the Year in 2015 for the innovative design. (timurbozca.com)
