Chalet Ormello at Hôtel de Charme Les Airelles

Jennifer Ryan

The Resort: Like something from an alpine fairy tale, the Hôtel de Charme Les Airelles in Courchevel, France, is a chalet-style retreat with stenciled wall paintings covering its exterior and knotty-pine woodwork throughout. The 52-room hotel, perched slope-side at Les Trois Vallées (the largest ski area in the Alps), offers direct mountain access through its back door, where guests can check their equipment with a ski valet. Les Airelles recently completed a $51 million renovation that included the addition of a restaurant by Parisian Michelin-three-star chef Pierre Gagnaire and a spa with treatments designed by Swiss skin-care company Valmont.

The Villa: Opened last December, the nearly 11,000-square-foot Chalet Ormello sits across the street and down the hill from Les Airelles but functions as an extension of the hotel. Guests enter the gable-roofed, five-story structure on the ground floor, which includes a kitchen, a mudroom, and three of the chalet’s nine bedrooms. Common areas on the upper and lower levels—all connected via elevator—include living and dining rooms and a second kitchen upstairs, and a home theater, bar, and indoor pool with adjacent spa and fitness areas downstairs. The chalet’s nightly rate includes concierge, food and beverage, shuttle, housekeeping, and security services.

The Highlight: Coming in from the cold, removing your Moon Boots (a must-have accessory in Courchevel), and taking a hot steam in Chalet Ormello’s private spa.

The Price: From $100,000 per week for as many as 15 guests. +33.479.00.38.38, www.airelles.fr
