Callaway Transforms the Corvette Stingray into the AeroWagon

Matt Delorenzo

The engineering house Callaway is offering an innovative wagon version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray called the AeroWagon; it expects to begin delivery of the modified cars in early 2014. Known for its lineup of performance-enhanced vehicles ranging from Corvettes to full-size SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade, Callaway is making a departure with the AeroWagon’s modified body that includes a new wagon-like roofline, which boosts rear cargo capacity in the two-seat sports car. In addition, buyers can specify the Callaway supercharged engine, which enhances output of the 6.2-liter V-8 to 610 hp.

The rear clip of the vehicle is made of carbon fiber in-house by Callaway, and the cars modified, at the company’s two facilities in Santa Ana, Calif., and Old Lyme, Conn. The company will do aftermarket modifications of C7 Corvette Stingrays, or buyers can order the car new through authorized Callaway dealers. The Callaway AeroWagon remains a two-passenger vehicle and, aside from the expanded capacity, the cargo area remains unchanged, though buyers will be able to opt for upgraded carpet, leather side panels, or a teak floor with chrome accents.

The conversion has introductory pricing of $15,000 over the Corvette base price in a natural carbon-fiber finish, with body-color paint a $1,500 option. (www.callawaycars.com)
