Girard-Perregaux Reveals the Newly Redesigned Cat’s Eye Power Reserve

John Lyon

A new addition to the two-decade-old Cat’s Eye line of women’s wristwatches, the Girard-Perregaux Cat’s Eye Power Reserve sports an entirely new dial design that exudes elegance. Available in black or silver and starting at $14,550, the watch’s sophisticated oval dial is decorated with guilloche engravings that appear to radiate from the subdial that indicates seconds. Eight brilliant-cut diamonds serve as hour indices between the 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock positions, and an additional 64 diamonds are set into the watch’s bezel. Echoing the shape of its dial, the watch’s date-display aperture—positioned at 3 o’clock—is encircled by two off-center ovals that resemble a cat’s eye. The watch’s automatic movement is visible through its case-back crystal, revealing a weighted rotor, engraved with a tapestry of Girard-Perregaux GP logos, that is able to generate enough energy to power the watch for 46 hours. A small power indicator positioned near the date-display shows the remaining power via a small hand that traces an arc through a field of stars. (www.girard-perregaux.com)
