Best of the Best 2013: International White Wines: Bouchard Père et Fils 2010 Chevalier-Montrachet
Founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard, a textile merchant, Bouchard Père et Fils was purchased in 1995 by Joseph Henriot, the owner of Champagne Henriot. He sought to improve the quality of this négociant’s wines, which in the opinion of many critics had declined in the preceding two decades. The Bouchard Père et Fils 2010 Chevalier-Montrachet (www.bouchard-pereetfils.com, $330) is mouthwatering proof of his success. Lusciously textured, this white from the Côte de Beaune blossoms with floral scents, including lily, lime blossom, and honeysuckle. Fruit flavors—green apple, peach, and Meyer lemon—precede a finish of hazelnut and smoky minerals.
