Best of the Best 2013: Men's Fashion: Brand Redux: Brioni

Jill Newman

Creative director Brendan Mullane’s first collection for Brioni was both trumpeted by the fashion world and true to the Italian suitmaker’s elegant tailoring. Mullane—the former head designer for Givenchy menswear and a veteran of luxury houses including Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, and Alexander McQueen—employs a sophisticated palette of muted greens and maroon and adds exceptional details, such as fur shawl collars and trim, throughout the upcoming fall line. “We are applying our sartorial skills beyond suits to knitwear and leather pieces, and we’re experimenting with new materials and silhouettes,” Mullane says. His influence is evident in the suede-and-shearling coat ($14,500), wool-and-cashmere suit ($5,750), shirt ($425), silk tie ($210), and leather shoes ($1,195). (888.778.8775, www.brioni.com)
