Best of the Best 2013: Sports Cars: SRT Viper

Matt Stone

The flagship of Chrysler’s new Street & Racing Technology division, the 2013 SRT Viper (www.drivesrt.com) has become more refined yet remains a brazen statement of American muscle. Compared to the previous version, the new Viper, which has a base price of about $97,000, displays a slinkier shape, with Ferrari-like curves, and its engine revs higher and runs more smoothly. The 8.4-liter V-10 churns out 640 hp and 600 ft lbs of torque, which launch the Viper from zero to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds and to a top speed of just over 200 mph.
