BEST of the BEST 2014 | Home | Decor: Stefano Ricci Royal Suite Collection

  • Sheila Gibson Stoodley

A distinguished Italian menswear designer has brought a wealth of fashion sense to his company’s latest items for the home. The Stefano Ricci Royal Suite Collection (212.371.3901, www.stefanoricci.com) includes a sterling-silver teapot ($9,500) and coffee pot ($10,220) in paisley decorations—the same styles that adorn some of the Florentine brand’s ties. The eagle’s heads that crown the pots, meanwhile, will be familiar to wearers of the company’s eagle-themed ties, belts, and other accessories. In addition to its fashions, Stefano Ricci drew inspiration from Italian and Florentine heritage for the Royal Suite line, which spans everything from linens to crystal. The platinum plating on the collection’s porcelain tableware ($5,770 for a caviar server, $10,400 per full place setting, $124,800 for 12 full place settings) recalls the decorative motifs on the ceilings of Medici palaces—and the painstaking process behind their creation. “The application is done by hand,” says Filippo Ricci, creative director of Stefano Ricci, “to get the special shininess on the platinum.”
