With the arrival of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition Roadster (www.mercedes-benz.com) comes the end of an era. This is, as the name says, the final edition of the SLS, a model that launched in 2010 and was the first ground-up design built entirely by AMG, Mercedes-Benz’s in-house tuning shop. The SLS coupe pays homage to the 300SL with its gullwing doors; while the Roadster cannot include that distinctive design element, it does feature the same advanced aluminum construction, electronically adjustable suspension, and 6.3-liter V-8.

The Final Edition is distinguished by a carbon-fiber splitter, spoiler, and hood, which sports a central air outlet. The bodywork looks bold and also increases downforce, reduces drag, and helps dissipate hot air from the 583 hp engine. The interior includes diamond-patterned leather, an Alcantara-covered steering wheel, and carbon-fiber trim. Mercedes-Benz will produce only 350 examples of the Final Edition. Robb Report went to press before prices were announced, but the Roadster was expected to cost about $230,000.
