BEST of the BEST 2014 | Wheels | SUVs & Wagons: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT

Whether it is doing draft-horse duty in front of a trailer or storming down the road like a Thoroughbred, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT (www.drivesrt.com), a full-size SUV with a starting price of about $64,000, is equally suited to either activity. Chrysler’s 6.4-liter V-8, a 470 hp Hemi design that generates 465 ft lbs of torque, gives the Grand Cherokee SRT a towing capacity of 7,200 pounds. Mated to an 8-speed transmission with launch control and Sport and Track settings, the engine enables a zero-to-60-mph time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph. The exterior design elements that distinguish the Grand Cherokee SRT from the standard Grand Cherokee include a blacked-out front grille, headlights, and taillights. Brembo brakes and 20-inch wheels are standard equipment.
