FrontRunners: Digital Delight

Bailey S. Barnard

The Danish digital-audio pioneer Peter Lyngdorf, who founded Steinway Lyngdorf in 2005, has lately been lending his technical prowess to another company he started the same year. The Lyngdorf Audio TDAI-2170 (www.lyngdorf.com), which began shipping in December, demonstrates just how much digital technology Lyngdorf can pack into an amplifier. Shown here stacked beneath Lyngdorf’s new CD-2 player, the $4,000 TDAI-2170 features room- and clipping-correction systems and 170 watts per channel of digital amplification. The optional HDMI and USB inputs and digital-to-analog converter enable the amp to serve as a digital-audio hub.
