FrontRunners: Greens Keepers

Golfers tend to focus on their drivers and irons, but on average, putting accounts for roughly 40 percent of a round’s score. If putters merit more attention from golfers, these attention-grabbing new models should be a good fit in any bag, with sleek designs that promise unprecedented forgiveness on the greens. The Titleist Futura X ($375, www.titleist.com), designed by Scotty Cameron and wielded by Adam Scott at the Masters, is a heavy putter with adjustable weights in its sole. In addition to adjustable weights, the blade and mini-mallet versions of the Odyssey ProType iX ($349, www.odysseygolf.com) have new inserts designed to provide a consistent feel across the striking surface. Offering even more head options is the P2G2 (priced from $250, www.p2g2.com), which is available with a blade, T-shape, or mallet head. Each of the heavy, tall heads produces solid contact and roll. The TaylorMade Spider Blade ($200, www.taylormadegolf.com) has an exceptionally stable blade head that is colored black and white to help golfers with their aim.
