FrontRunners: Triple Threat

As its name implies, the Harry Winston Histoire de Tourbillon 4 (www.harrywinston.com) is the fourth—and most complex—iteration of the company’s tourbillon. The firm collaborated on the $696,600 timepiece with the boutique watchmaker Greubel Forsey, a master of the tourbillon design. The watch features a triple tourbillon composed of three concentric carriages, each moving at a different angle and speed to counter the gravitational pull that leads to timekeeping inaccuracies. To reduce the watch’s weight and power requirements, two of its carriages are made of titanium and one is made of gold.
