Like the faces of some watches that also are created in Geneva, the barrel of the Caran d’Ache Caelograph pen (www.carandache.com) indicates the constellations that are visible overhead at a given time. The constellation display corresponds with the day and hour designated by the adjustable rings on the top of the barrel. Caran d’Ache has produced three versions of the pen: the platinum-coated Alpha ($4,500); the gold-plated Sirius ($5,300), which is set with a diamond marking the position of its namesake star; and the Zenith (price upon request), which is made of solid rose gold and set with 24 diamonds.
