Odds of Production: If Not in This Life, Then the Next
Ethereal and abstract, the Aprilia XSV4 concept takes the naked-motorcycle category to an otherworldly level. Developed by Marco Lambri and his team at Aprilia Design Center in Pasadena, Calif., the revealing roadster pays homage to the Italian company’s acclaimed V-4 engine—a technological feat that has helped garner the brand seven Superbike World Championship victories. At the core of the XSV4 is a 201 hp, 65-degree, 4-cylinder motor with 85 ft lbs of torque. What surrounds that engine is less quantifiable: Scant ribbons of billowing bodywork and crescent wisps where wheels would otherwise be impart an air of apparition, bringing new meaning to Aprilia’s spirit of competition.
