As soon as one approaches this Ed Niles–designed, geometric estate, it is apparent that 41800 Pacific Coast Highway is not the typical Malibu beach house.

A glass atrium entryway, with a brick wall clad in floating plants, immediately opens to a steep glass-and-steel staircase. The main living area lies below and effortlessly blends contemporary elements—concrete walls, French Cesium blue marble floors, and sharp angular lines—with traditional Japanese concepts, such as the kitchen’s dramatic opaque skylights, which are reminiscent of shoji screens. Just before the kitchen, seemingly suspended between the main living area and the vast 29-foot ceilings, is an intersection of glass-clad catwalks that lead to the home’s four bedrooms and a dedicated music room, which also can be accessed by the home’s elevator.

Downstairs, casual lounging areas and a soundproof entertainment room overlook the backyard equipped with a fire pit, a curvilinear sculpture that echoes the one at the entrance, and ample covered terrace space for alfresco dining. For indoor meals, an all-glass-enclosed dining area crafted from red steel beams, is located adjacent to the kitchen and features a built-in barbecue and breathtaking views of the Pacific. Other amenities in the nearly 9,000-square-foot estate, which is listed at $53 million, include a Tesla charging station, a three-car garage, a dedicated Verizon cell tower, and a one-bedroom guesthouse.
