Jim Lorenz began work in the real estate industry in 1977 in Muskegon, Michigan. He bought his first home unbelievably cheap and there it began. By age 25 he had bought and remodeled 20 homes and had built close to 20. The Jimmy Carter days of nearly over night high interest rates of 19 % ended his desire to remain a builder and resident of Michigan and he headed to Sapphire , N.C.
Resort real estate sales became his area of expertise. Sapphire Valley Resort, Sapphire Lakes Country Club and Lake Toxaway Company were all destinations that he did well in but change and a desire to launch off on his own happened in 1990. He bought the corner of NC 281 and US 64 in Sapphire and built a convenience store and a new real estate office with a partner.
For the past 20 years Jim has become a leader in sales of land tracts, homes and condominiums from Brevard to Highlands to Sylva pretty much within that triangle of area.
He played a big part in helping the developers he worked for design and market new home projects and condominiums. In addition, off site marketing in the south east became a big component in his winter months in an attempt to capture those professional clients wanting to become a part of the western North Carolina mountains.
