In the November issue of National Geographic, 50 West Street was one of several new skyscrapers featured in an article about the changing New York City skyline. Reaching to about 780 feet, the 64-story tower is by no means the tallest in the Big Apple, but it easily rises above the buildings in its immediate neighborhood. For 50 West penthouse owners this means unobstructed panoramic views of the New York Harbor and Statue of Liberty.

The glass-and-steel tower by architect Helmut Jahn should be finished later this year, and over half of its 191 units are already sold. But some of its most desirable residences—the L Series Penthouses—are still available. Unit 59B (currently listed for $22.65 million) occupies half the floor, at 3,594 square feet, and features three large bedrooms, marble floors, walnut details, and a state-of-the-art kitchen with Miele and Sub-Zero appliances. The highlight, however, is the floor-to-ceiling, double-height window walls with unparalleled views of Manhattan dominating the master suite, the dining room, and the living room.

Additional amenities are spread throughout 50 West. In the Water Club, there is a 60-foot swimming pool with a regular lifeguard, a hot tub, a marble steam room, and experience showers complete with several lighting and audio settings. The private fitness center takes up an entire floor, offering yoga and spinning studios, a golf simulator, and spa treatment rooms. On the entertainment floor is a theater with stadium seating, a game room, a children’s playroom, a basketball room, and outdoor space. Crowning the building at 734 feet is a landscaped observatory with barbecues, an outdoor kitchen, private dining areas, and permanent binocular viewers for enhanced harbor gazing.
