Opened in September, the Andaz Maui at Wailea has an estimable location on Mokapu Beach—an inviting place to bask on the soft sand or take off in a kayak—and the resort is offering whole-ownership properties in structures just steps from this desirable strand. The 12 oceanfront residences (two have sold so far), which are being designed by the Honolulu-based firm WCIT Architecture, bear light, modern finishes, rather than the heavier elements of Hawaiian plantation style. Oversize sliding glass doors open up the state-of-the-art kitchens (with Miele appliances) and other rooms to the ocean views and breezes. Further facilitating indoor-outdoor living are lanais with gas grills and refrigerators and either plunge pools or hot tubs. Owners of the residences can avail themselves of the resort’s amenities, which include cascading infinity pools, a spa, a fitness center, restaurants, and an owner’s concierge, or use Wailea as a base from which to explore Maui’s other attractions, such as its golf courses and volcanoes.
