The lyrics to the song Home on the Range could easily describe Cordillera Ranch, an 8,700-acre private community outside of San Antonio, Texas. Brimming with understated elegance, the community offers sweeping views of the surrounding terrain and nearby wildlife.

Interested buyers who want to build their dream home from the ground up can choose between quarter-acre slices of paradise or one- to 10-plus acre plots with views of the valley, the golf course, or the Guadalupe River. Prices for homesites start in the mid-$100,000s and go up to more than $3 million. Buyers can choose to work with one of Cordillera Ranch’s six preferred builders or bring in their own contractor. Those who wish to buy a pre-built home can choose between several different styles and layouts; prices for custom homes range between $500,000 and more than $2.5 million.

While the quaint town of Boerne and the bustling city of San Antonio are both within easy driving distance, owners will not need to leave the private gated community for entertainment. Cordillera Ranch features seven resort-style clubs: the Golf Club, the Social Club, the Tennis and Swim Club, the Equestrian Club, the Rod and Gun Club, the Spa and Athletic Club, and the River Club. One of the most popular on-site destinations is the Jack Nicklaus Signature course, with its 16th hole built over limestone rocks and a cascading waterfall. The grounds also contain five tennis courts, four outdoor pools, a fitness center and spa, horse stables, an archery range, and other amenities ideal for anyone who wants to live where the deer and the antelope play.
